Working for main contractor B&E Services, we were appointed to deliver the full groundworks package for the exciting new Jumanji Land development at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. This major themed expansion formed part of one of the park’s most ambitious investments, creating a highly immersive new area featuring a main rollercoaster, two additional rides, a large themed ride station, and an extensive signature Jaguar feature.
The project involved comprehensive civil engineering and groundwork operations, including drainage systems, service ducting, and extensive foundation works to support the new attractions. Early works comprised the full site strip and enabling works package, followed by piling attendance and coordination across multiple work fronts within a constrained and highly active construction environment.
Structural works included the construction of reinforced concrete pile caps and ground beams, raft slabs, and mass fill retaining wall foundations to support ride infrastructure and themed elements. Particular attention was required to coordinate works around the complex geometry and loading requirements of the major ride structures and themed installations.
Extensive external works were also delivered, including hardstandings for queue lines, pathways, access routes, and topsoiling to landscaped areas. The scale of the development required significant material management, with large volumes of imported and exported materials carefully coordinated through trusted local waste carriers and aggregate suppliers, alongside long-standing subcontract partners who played a key role in maintaining programme momentum.
Delivered within a live operational theme park environment, the project demanded detailed planning, logistical control, and close collaboration with B&E Services and the wider project team. Our long-standing relationship with the resort proved invaluable in navigating operational constraints and coordinating works safely and efficiently alongside public access and other ongoing developments.
