The Launchpad project at Thorpe Park involved the transformation of the existing beach area into a vibrant new entertainment, seating, and relaxation space for guests. Acting as principal contractor, we were responsible for delivering the full redevelopment of the area, creating a high-quality destination space that enhances visitor experience within the resort.

The scheme began with the removal of the existing concrete beach surfacing and associated low-level demolition works, allowing the site to be fully reconfigured. From there, extensive drainage infrastructure was installed, including attenuation systems and a flow control chamber, ensuring effective surface water management across the newly developed area.

The works also included the installation of service infrastructure ducting, along with new water services to support irrigation systems and retail kiosk operations. Two new retail kiosks were constructed as part of the development, forming key focal points within the refreshed space.

Significant external works were delivered, including high-quality fencing, new edgings, landscaped planters, retaining structures, and feature steps. The resting areas were completed with a combination of coloured resin surfacing laid over permeable asphalt, alongside permeable block paving to the back-of-house areas, ensuring both durability and sustainable drainage performance. The team installed benches to provide seating to guests.

Throughout the project, close collaboration with the client and design team enabled value engineering opportunities to be identified and implemented, helping to bring the scheme in line with budget while maintaining design intent and quality standards.
Delivered ahead of programme, the project stands as another strong example of our ability to manage complex, live-site environments safely and efficiently. As principal contractor, we maintained a well-organised and controlled site, ensuring high standards of safety, coordination, and workmanship throughout.

The finished Launchpad area provides a high-quality, flexible space for relaxation and entertainment, delivered to an exceptional standard of finish and enhancing the overall guest experience at Thorpe Park.
